Fallout new vegas keeps crashing on loading screens

The circle rotates around about once and then it crashes, giving the error message that reads Both before AND after today's () patch my Fallout: New Vegas game crashes at the loading screen that immediately follows the introduction. So obviously I just got Fallout NV and I am having immediate troubles with it.
